“Fa stremàs" was a typical activity of the rural population of the upper valley: during the evening, after sunset people gathered in the barns chattering about their days while the women spun wool and men repaired tools or weaved wicker baskets; the aunts and great-mothers had to entertain the children with songs and stories.
Trying to recreate the atmospheres of these old evening tales, illuminated only by the trembling light of a candle, is unattainable; here we report a local legend linked to the tale of Charlemagne, with the hope of entertaining you for a while, just like our old story-tellers.
